In the Summer of 2000, a young, gruff voice, coupled with a gritty, grungy music video and an aura on un-touchability, embarked on a whirlwind of courtrooms, media frenzies, and, ultimately, incarceration. The voice was (undoubtedly) Shyne’s; the threat was (definitely) real; and, with the outcome, the code of silence remained (respectfully) intact. Welcome to the industry, kid. The story’s been told over and over, the fingers have been incessantly pointed. In a brief career that spawned three singles, scattered mixtape appearances, and the label ‘infamous’, before it was cool to be so, Shyne has left his mark.
